Space Tourism Sees a Boost in Funding

After the initial buzz of space tourism was quashed by the reality of the high cost to embark on such trips, the interest and financial backing for space tourism is again on the rise according to a recent article in Popular Mechanics.

Reporting from the International Space Development Conference in Washington, Popular Mechanics’ Glenn Reynolds noticed an even larger trend than just renewed interest in space tourism – the levels of interest and investment in Space 2.0 development as an industry. Citing upcoming technologies in asteroid defense, the Google Lunar X Prize and space-based solar power, it’s not just space tourism that has venture capitalists’ attention. For the 8th Continent Project, this influx of “early adopters” means widening interest in the possibilites and realities that Space 2.0 can offer consumers and investors alike; a market is developing for affordable space tourism and by trickle down effect, welcome to the Space 2.0 industry.
