Burke Fort, Director of the 8th Continent Project, is meeting with space commerce entrepreneurs, venture capital investors and journalists today at the Space Investment Summit in Los Angeles. This annual summit unites investors, entrepreneurs, companies, government officials, academics and non-profits to promote innovation in space-related commerce worldwide.
The day’s agenda includes business plan presentations from several early stage companies, key note speakers who will discuss strategies for moving forward with space commerce, and a special market overview regarding financial and legal constraints for the industry.
One of the business plan presentation’s will be from iShoe, winner of the 2008 8th Continent Project Business Plan Competition. Since the competition, iShoe has gone on to be featured on CNN.com, Wired, USA Today and many other national publications for their space-derived, balance-detecting technology. According to Fort, “iShoe represents an important component to the Space 2.0 equation – taking existing space derived technology developed by NASA and making it viable for emerging, Earth-based applications.”
The 8th Continent Project is a sponsor of the Space Investment Summit and looks to collaborate with like-minded industry people for the advancement of Space 2.0.
